An excellent website showcasing the documentary photographs of Chicago based photographer Dave Jordano. Check out his excellent series ‘Articles of Faith’ where Jordano documents the private interior spaces of faith in African-American churches or ‘Prairieland’ where Jordano observes the people and places of small town, rural Illinois.
My favorite series is ‘Chanute AFB’ (Air Force Base) where Jordano turns his lens on an abandoned air force base in Rantoul, Illinois. The evocative ‘nature’ of these images of abandoned rooms with faded remembrances of the power of the American armed services is poignant in the current world political climate to say the least.
Above all Jordano has an insightful and inquiring mind. The spatial construction of his images is masterful as is the slightly ironic but truthful manner which he casts his eye across the subject matter.
